Scrap metal recycling for the win! 

Tip for anyone with metal jar lids and aluminum pie plates or casserole pans: check with your local scrap metal recycling. Ours took both, along with a lot of rusted metal things left behind by the former owners of our house. We keep finding random stuff in the yard.
