One of the plants that we planted last fall is putting on a show: Fireworks goldenrod (Solidago rugosa ‘Fireworks’). It blooms for about a month starting in September. It’s 3-4 feet tall with a similar spread when full size.
Goldenrod gets a bad rap as an allergen, but it’s actually been falsely accused. It just happens to bloom at the same time as allergy-inducing plants. Goldenrod is a top plant for pollinators, and our pollinators need all the help that they can get.
